UpStream Art, a project of the University Of Arkansas Division Of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service, has been using Seal-Krete products to protect murals on storm drains. The murals communicate the function and importance of storm drains.
Using both Seal-Krete‘s Clear-Seal and Clear-Grip as a topcoat, the artists have painted 19 murals. The concrete-and-iron storm drains are found throughout northwest Arkansas.
The murals represent the effect of the pollution in storm water runoff such as plants, fish, animals, and people. The purpose is to both drive observers to stop and think about where the water flows. It enters the storm drain and to discourage storm water runoff pollution.
The UpStream Art team has been using Seal-Krete products since 2012 and is very happy with the results. “One storm drain even had major construction with heavy equipment driving all around the drain. Clear-Seal kept the art safe without a chip,” said program associate Jane Maginot in a news release.
