Concrete Industry Spotlight: The British Are Coming!
Cross-pollination is one of my favorite concepts to think about. (Isn’t it odd that one could have so much time on their hands!) It’s when an idea or a product from one industry is taken and used in an entirely new way by a person from outside that industry. The person from outside the industry sees the idea or product from a totally different perspective — and also has his or her own set of unique talents to add to the process.

By now the booming market for concrete countertops is well known. Architects and designers are well versed in concretes ability to contribute to the cool, natural look that is in such demand. What is not as well known is the growing popularity of concrete furniture pieces some of North America’s most creative craftsmen are creating.

Concrete is being used as a final interior flooring surface in direct competition with wood, tile, marble, and slate. Concrete surfaces can be stained, scored, sandblasted, overlayed and stamped — or a combination of the above.
