Through generous donations from ACI members, and the concrete industry, the ACI Foundation raised $1 million.
Jeffrey W. Coleman, President of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) announced the challenge to raise $1 million in October 2020, during his term as president. To date, the generous contributions contributed to the ACI Foundation amount to over $1,320,000.
“Due to the generosity of ACI members and chapters, we have not only reached the goal, we have exceeded it,” stated Coleman. “I want to express my sincere gratitude to all who contributed. Notably our major donors, who I thank for making contributions. A donation in honor of ACI Past President Robert Mast, the ACI Carolinas Chapter, Surendra P. Shah and his students and supporters, Master Builders Solutions, the estate of William Maloney, the ACI Greater Miami Valley Chapter, the ACI Ontario Chapter, Georgia ACI Chapter, New Jersey ACI Chapter, and AOE. I also thank the ACI Board of Direction and ACI for continued support of the Foundation. A special thank you goes to ACI Past President Dan Baker who moved them over the million-dollar line.
Why the ACI Foundation?
The ACI Foundation promotes progress, innovation, and also collaboration in the concrete industry through strategic investments in research, scholarships, and ideas.
“I am excited and encouraged to see such growth in the ACI Foundation as our longstanding supporters and new donors came together this past year,” states Ann M. Masek, Executive Director, ACI Foundation. “Our programs can provide more progress and benefits to students, research, and technology. The advocacy of ACI President Coleman throughout his term and the support of our community demonstrate how together we can make a difference.”
The ACI Foundation Concrete Research Council selected eight research projects to receive grants in 2020. The ACI Foundation also strongly supports students joining the field of concrete – future designers, engineers, educators, construction managers, and contractors – and has provided financial support, and mentorship and internship opportunities in the concrete industry to 175 students in the last decade, including to 20 students in 2020 alone. With these increased contributions, the ACI Foundation will be able to fund even more deserving students. They will also be able to fund needed research, and promote industry impacting activities.
About the ACI Foundation

Three councils make up the ACI Foundation; the Strategic Development Council, committed to resolving the issues of new technology acceptance within the concrete industry; the Concrete Research Council, which both funds and assists in the research of new concrete technologies; and the Scholarship Council which facilitates both student fellowships and scholarships.
