The American Concrete Institute will hold its 2005 convention April 17 through April 21 in New York City. The theme will be “Concrete Soars, Spans & Supports New York and New Jersey.” The convention will host 37 technical sessions and more than 300 meetings. Additional highlights will include the Edward Nawy Honorary Dinner and a site tour of the World Trade Center. The convention also offers competitions and events for students from the United States, Canada, Mexico, Iran and other countries. A student luncheon featuring Dr. David P. Billington, professor of civil engineering at Princeton University, will be held April 18, followed by the Student Fellowship Research Showcase highlighting past recipients of the ACI student fellowship program. The convention is co-hosted by the ACI New Jersey Chapter and the Concrete Industry Board of New York. The American Concrete Institute currently has 16,000 members and 96 chapters in 115 countries.
