Straight shank bits, or Hammer bits, are carbide-tipped bits used for drilling holes in concrete, brick or block base material. Confast makes the tip of the bits out of carbide and you use these carbide hammer bit in mechanical hammer drills.
You attach the straight shank bits to the hammer drills via a chuck. Additionally, you use the straight-shanked bit in a Jacobs style chuck. These are chucks that use a key.
