In conjunction with Hanley Wood, Covestro announces the launch of a free continuing education opportunity. The course, titled “Exploring High-Performance Protective Coatings for Steel in Architectural Applications,” is available now. Continuing education by Covestro is a hallmark of the company and gives participants the chance to learn from an industry icon. This opportunity will be available for download to complete virtually. It is also free for all registrants.
Steven Reinstadtler, infrastructure market manager at Covestro, wrote the course. Reinstadtler works closely with architects, engineers, specifiers and contractors, as well as organizations that build with both durability and sustainability in mind. He shares high-performance options for flooring, architectural, corrosion, roofing and waterproofing applications.
The course description follows:
A wide variety of industries use high-performance coatings to protect steel construction from corrosion. These corrosion-protection coatings indispensably contribute to the long-term preservation of valuable capital investments worldwide. However, choosing the best corrosion-protection system for the intended application is the most important consideration to achieve long-term protection. This course will examine the specific needs in the main segments of use of high-performance protective coatings in the built environment, review Environmental Zone selection and surface preparation standards to determine coating requirements, and then review five real-world case histories of high-performance coatings used on steel infrastructure in architectural applications.
Learning Objectives
- Examine how high-performance protective coatings prevent corrosion in the built environment and how they are increasingly being used for architectural applications.
- Identify service considerations when selecting a coating system and review how to prep steel for coating.
- Also understand high-performance coating system components and technology options for primers, basecoats and topcoats.
- Explore six case studies where the use of high-performance corrosion coatings in architectural applications occurred.
Participants who completes the course will earn 1.0 AIA/CEU learning unit.
