The Concrete Polishing Association of America (CPAA) has announced a new president. Chad Gill, president of Concreate Inc., in Midlothian, Virginia, was elected by the CPAA board of directors at the annual board meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada, before the 2014 World of Concrete show.
Through Concreate, Gill has been a member of CPAA since 2012 and was elected to the board of directors in 2013. Gill received his bachelor’s of science in mechanical engineering from the Virginia Military Institute, Lexington, Virginia, in 1996. He is a licensed professional engineer in Virginia.
In a statement released July 7, Gill says he is “honored” to serve as the next president of CPAA. Gill states that he would like to thank Roy Bowman for guiding the CPAA since 2011 and leaving the association “poised for future growth.” “Under Roy’s leadership the CPAA has seen a rapid expansion in the membership, including a 15 percent increase in membership since the beginning of the year,” says Gill.
Gill intends to use his term as president to push for greater member engagement, committee empowerment, and increased exposure at World of Concrete and the Concrete Decor Show.
“All of you, the members of the association, are the reason CPAA exists,” says Gill in his statement. “The knowledge and experience that the membership has is vast and we need to recognize and cultivate these characteristics to advance the industry. I want to ensure that the members and the public are informed about the status of the CPAA and where we are going.” Gill plans to increase member engagement through a monthly newsletter that will provide updates on activities and progress. In time, the newsletter will be expanded to offer more content in the form of case study articles and FAQ responses from the technical hotline.
Gill plans to empower committees to be more flexible and complete tasks more efficiently. He encourages members to join committees, as he plans to shift more of the responsibilities from the board to the committees.
His final objective as president is to establish an expanded presence for CPAA at the World of Concrete and Concrete Decor Show. CPAA will have a booth at the Concrete Decor Show this fall in Fort Worth, Texas, from Sept. 29-Oct. 3, 2014, and will sponsor a demonstration area where member manufacturers have the opportunity to demonstrate their products. CCPA will also be launching two new education programs, on testing polished concrete and chemical products for polished concrete. At World of Concrete 2015, CPAA will augment the annual members’ meeting by commemorating its fifth anniversary.
