CTS Cement Manufacturing Co. now offers CTS Type-G expansive mineral additive for use in shrinkage reduction and shrinkage compensation in portland cement concrete. The Type-G additive can be used in any application where regular portland cement concrete is used, including flatwork, bridge-decks, parking structures, topping slabs and pre-cast elements.
The primary chemical mechanism for expansion with the Type-G additive is the reaction of calcium oxide and water to create the expansive Calcium Hydroxide Platelet System. The CTS Type-G expansive additive eliminates or reduces cracks caused by drying shrinkage and reduces the number of joints on large, monolithic slabs. There is no effect on mechanical strengths and it is compatible with most portland cements. Type-G is not a shrinkage-reducing admixture.
CTS also offers its proven KSC Type-K cement technology, a hydraulic cement designed for use in shrinkage-compensating concrete and reduced shrinkage concrete, as well as Komponent, an expansive cement which can be added to ordinary portland cement to make Type-K.
