The versatility of SpecChem’s Duo Patch – a two-component, polymer modified concrete repair mortar – was on display on a project recently in Cardenas, Panama. The distributor in the region, Construventas, S. A., partnering with Tecnova Panama, S. A. and coordinating with SpecChem sales representative Roger Bellido, utilized SpecChem’s repair and restoration line to the tune of over 40,000 square feet of resurfacing, patching and repair.
Both internal and external perimeter walls, along with floors, walkways, and other outside walls, made up the majority of the project. They did surface preparation on the walls using a manual surface grinder with both diamond discs and cutting discs for removal of any loose material and debris. SpecPatch – a general purpose, polymer-modified concrete repair mortar – was used first to repair damaged areas. Afterward, Duo Patch was applied throughout as a 3 mm resurfacing coat.

They handled floors and walkways similarly, using the surface grinders along with pressure washing to remove deteriorated layers to achieve the required surface profile. They then applied Duo Patch at thicknesses ranging from 3 mm to 5 mm, depending on the depth of repair and level required.

The project was a perfect opportunity to highlight the diversity of one of the strongest – and also most versatile – repair and restoration products. In this case, installers specifically selected Duo Patch for its uniform finish and natural concrete gray color. They also chose it for its flexible consistency, and its durability and adhesion.
