The American Society of Concrete Contractors, (ASCC), St. Louis, MO., will hold a Laser Scanning Workshop on Tolerances, Monday, January 22, from 8a.m. – 5p.m. in Las, Vegas, NV, in conjunction with the World of Concrete. Dr. Bruce Suprenant, PhD, PE, FACI, CSI: CSSA, CCS, technical director of the ASCC, is the workshop coordinator.
The workshop is by invitation only. General and concrete contractors, manufacturers of laser screening equipment, scanning processing companies, and others in the industry will present and discuss 3D measurement, imaging and realization technology in the construction industry.
The morning will feature presentations on separate topics while the afternoon will be devoted to working groups to discuss recommended practices for laser scanning for tolerances. The objective of this workshop is to create a recommended standard practice for laser scanning, data processing, data handling, and data reporting summary that can be effectively used and understood by all parties in determining tolerance compliance for concrete construction.
Laser scanners provide users with detailed point clouds which enable 3D modeling for diverse tasks. With fast turnaround, 3D laser scanners can deliver as-built documentation and 3D modeling for architectural design, civil engineering and construction at every stage, from initial design to final inspection.
The ASCC is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of those who build with concrete, and to providing them a unified voice in the construction industry. Members include concrete contracting firms, manufacturers, suppliers and others interested in the concrete industry such as architects, specifiers and engineers.
