The annual World of Concrete tradeshow kicked off as usual in Las Vegas the first week of February. Many manufacturers took advantage of the concrete-focused group of attendees to debut and showcase new products. Below is a list of some of the most innovative and useful concrete-related products we found there.
Atlas Copco
Atlas Copco replaced the LT5004 and LT6004 rammers with the new LT5005 and LT6005 rammers that feature ultra-slim bodies ideal for getting closer to structures and through narrow spaces
Bon Tool
Bon Tool introduced 10 items. Dual-Roll Terrazo Roller embeds filler aggregates into liquid polymer flooring systems. Bucket Cart holds 5-gallon buckets. TheV-shaped Keyway Groover creates a key in footings. New leveling pins help achieve consistent surfaces for self-leveling and cementitious flooring materials. Overlay Spreader/Smoother’s 24-inch stainless-steel blade promotes a uniform overlay application.Pro Plus Poly-Mortar Tub with legs is designed for forklift use. Slab Dolly can easily maneuver heavy slabs or panels. Thumper Tamper is made for Bon’s Buster Bar, which produces 1,450 pounds of energy per blow. Used together, they help concentrate the blow force on the same spot. Steeltray Trade Tough Wheelbarrow holds 6 cubic feet and is equipped with a flat-free tire, steel handles and heavy-gauge seamless steel tray. Super-Flex Silicone Grout Bag is made from a heavy-duty silicone that provides flex for consistent mortar flow rate.
Cemen Tech
Cemen Tech introduced the C860 volumetric mixer with many features not previously available on its mixers, such as an electronic control panel and a GPS.The system allows tracking of the mixer’s location and alerts managers when and where it stops, and how many times it runs each day.
Cheng Design and Sakrete
ShapeCrete is a collaborative innovation between FuTung Cheng and Sakrete. A high-performance, versatile concrete mix that can be shaped, rolled, sculpted, poured, molded or cast, it is a just-add-water shape-able concrete.
Diamatic
Diamatic debuted 11 products: the electric, self-propelled BS-110 walk-behind scraper, best for removing glue, VCT, wood and other floor coverings in small and medium projects; BMS-220 ABD ride-on scraper with a battery that runs up to 10 hours on an overnight charge; the middle-sized, 22-inch planetary grinder 555 Pro grinder polisher; BDC-44 and BDC-99 dust-extraction systems with extremely high CFM and water lift, for use with demolitions and shot-blasting equipment; Diamatic/Machine Technologies’ P-25X overlay/grout pump designed for cementitious overlays and high production; Flor-Fill (RSG) which uses dust from grinding to produce a grout that fills small voids; the two-component Flor-Shield surface densifying and protective treatment that combines surface hardening with stain resistance; Flor-Finish low-gloss additive to help produce satin-finish polished floors; universal Super-Mag tooling plates; and high-performance Super-Flex resin-bonded diamonds.
FSTR Technology
FSTR-30 Thin-Gel Adhesive, a two-part polyurethane that tacks in seconds, bonds dissimilar materials in under 30 minutes.
The Hanson Group
The Hanson Group debuted small-batch casting systems and fast-set coating systems. The FortiMold system is a low-cost, self-releasing, tough polyurethane for concrete and urethane molds. The FortiSpray 914 system is a new fast-set sprayable two-component elastomer for industrial concrete mold-making applications.
HTC
HTC’s AirFlow technology for its diamond-based floor grinding and cleaning products creates an increased and controlled air flow below the grinding cover, significantly lowering operating temperatures and improving dust removal efficiency. HTC’s 650 RX/HDX, 800 RX/HDX and 950 RX can be upgraded with AirFlow. As of April 20, new machines with the same model names also will be fitted with AirFlow as original equipment.
Husqvarna
Husqvarna’s PG 820 RC remote-controlled floor grinder offers high productivity and performance.
The operator can prepare the next set of tools, adjust hoses, move the dust collector or inspect the floor while the machine is on and operating remotely.
Makita
Celebrating its 100th anniversary and the release of its 100th tool in its LXT cordless tools line, Makita also demonstrated a range of new tools and accessories, including the 70-pound AVT Breaker Hammer, 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless 1/2-inch Hammer Driver-Drill Kit with a 18V LXT Lithium-Ion 5.0Ah Battery, 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Cordless 6-1/2-inch Circular Saw, 18V LXT Lithium-Ion Brushless Angle Grinder with automatic speed change, 2.6 gallon pressurized water tank, 6-inch floor scraper, 5.5 HP Big Bore Gas Air Compressor and 16-inch self-sharpening bull point.
Pilosio
Pilosio, a leading Italian company producing formworks and scaffoldings, launched Magnum Evo, an improved formwork system for walls with new details, two different coating finishes and three different panels.
Quikrete
Quikrete introduced Q-Max Pro and a new high-performance, fast-setting cement line. When applied at a minimum thickness of 2 inches, Q-Max Pro reaches 1,000 PSI in three hours, 3,000 PSI in 24 hours and 6,500 PSI in 28 days. FastSet Concrete Mix, a structural concrete that sets in 25 to 45 minutes, reaches 3,000 PSI in three hours. FastSet Repair Mortar, a polymer-modified shrinkage-compensated, high-strength mortar formulation that sets in 20 to 40 minutes, can be sculpted to match existing concrete for structural repairs in vertical and overhead applications.
FastSet All-Crete is a dual-purpose material that sets in 20 to 45 minutes and can be mixed to a plastic, flowable or fluid consistency to anchor and grout installations that require high-early and high-ultimate strength. FastSet Stucco Mix is a polymer-modified, fiber-reinforced cement-based stucco designed for use as the scratch and/or brown coat in a three-coat stucco application, or the first coat in a two-coat application. FastSet Stucco Patch is a cement-based repair material designed to repair cracks, holes and voids in stucco walls with a working time of 20 to 30 minutes.
FastSet Water-Stop Cement is a high-strength repair material designed to stop water leaks in masonry and concrete substrates above or below grade in 60 to 90 minutes. FastSet Self-Leveling Floor Resurfacer is an interior and exterior floor topping and underlayment specially formulated to work without troweling when installing ceramic tile, resilient flooring or carpet.
Rapid Set
Rapid Set Tru PC, a hydraulic cement-based, self-leveling topping, can simulate a polished concrete look without installing a new floor. Through grinding and polishing, its aggregate can be exposed.
Scanmaskin
Scanmaskin’s Scancombiflex 800DSP is a smart floor-grinding and polishing machine with an integrated computer and control panel for guidance. Sensors continuously measure the tool’s wear and send the operator feedback. The machine also can operate in manual mode without the feedback.
L. M. Scofield Co.
Scofield’s new formulation of its Solachrome High-SRI Concrete System features Solachrome Surface Coloring Treatment, a dry-shake hardener used to create vibrant solar-reflective colors. These conform to LEED 2009 requirements for reducing the urban heat island effect through cool pavement technology.
SSI
Silspec SES Expansion Joint System, featuring SSI’s proven polymer concrete header materials, is easily adaptable for new construction or repair work on elevated structures.
Subaru
Subaru Industrial Power Products has upgraded its line of commercial-grade SGX generators with larger fuel tanks, no-flat tires and larger mufflers, as well as upgraded control panels on some models. The SGX3500 delivers a maximum output of 3,500 watts; SGX5000, 4,900 watts; and SGX7500E, 7,500 watts.
Superabrasive Inc.
The Lavina X series of grinding and polishing equipment includes a full range of models, from the 7-inch and 13-inch edgers to the 32-inch self-propelled and 38-inch remote-controlled propane models. All models 25 inches and larger feature a window on the machine base, allowing for quick access to the planetary drive system and belts.
United Gilsonite Laboratory
UGL introduced NuDeck, a tintable thick coating designed to renew both damaged concrete and wood surfaces. It can fill small cracks and nail holes, lock down splinters and create a slip-resistant surface. One tint achieves 30 colors.
Wacker Neuson
Wacker Neuson’s CRT 60-74L ride-on trowel, their largest, is an upgraded 10-foot hydraulic machine with a powerful Tier 4 Final engine and heavy-duty hydraulic cooling system.
