The second Decorative Concrete Fair concluded midday August 23rd at the Solomon Colors training center. The 2018 event was marked by the continued development of the Decorative Concrete Fair concept and improved decorative concrete training. Beautiful weather, good attendance, quality trainers, and exciting new features resulted in a worthwhile experience for all parties.
Over 250 concrete contractors, construction materials suppliers, and ready mix concrete producers took time out of their busy late-summer schedules to hone decorative concrete knowledge and skills and grow long-term potential. Including trainers and supporting vendors, total attendance exceeded 350 industry professionals over the three-day event. Many of those in attendance returned from 2017, but a majority of trainers and attendees were new to the event for 2018.
A more varied curriculum was offered for the 2018 Decorative Concrete Fair. Highlights included a stamping demonstration designed and presented by Tom Ralston, vertical carving and staining with the Cement Sisters, cast concrete countertops with Brandon Gore, and a stenciled shark design from Rachel Knigge Bruce. A number of seminars were presented, covering topics ranging from photography to marketing and business management. The Game of Stones decorative concrete competition was also new for 2018, with Everlasting Concrete of Freedom, WI winning the inaugural event.
Future dates for the Decorative Concrete Fair, as well as other Solomon Colors training events, will be announced on brickformtraining.com. Photos and videos from the 2018 Decorative Concrete Fair will also be posted on brickformtraining.com and the Solomon Colors Facebook and LinkedIn pages.
