On Wednesday, June 10, 2015, Surtec Inc. was honored by California Assemblywoman Susan Eggman at California Small Business Day. As Small Business of the Year in District 13, Surtec was celebrated for its hard work and dedication to the community.
Assemblywoman Susan Eggman commented, “Surtec is well deserving of this award for their history of product innovations and for their commitment to community with Surtec’s Adopt-A-Family Program. California Small Business Day honored 80 out of 3.3 million small businesses in the State of California for their contribution to the state’s economy. Small business contributes 75% of California’s gross state product and more than half of the state’s private sector jobs. From hardware stores to manufacturers, small businesses are engrained in California’s communities and economy.
Surtec President Bill Fields commented, “It is with great humility and pride that I accept this award on behalf of Surtec Inc. Surtec has always strived to lead the industry in technology and customer service, and this award confirms that these efforts do not go unrecognized. My sincere thanks go out to Susan Eggman and the State of California for selecting Surtec to receive this honor.”
Surtec Inc. was founded in January of 1975 with the goal of developing and producing the highest quality chemicals, equipment and programs for the cleaning and maintenance industry. Surtec has led the industry in the development of "Green Cleaning Products and Programs" since the early 1980s by developing “green” chemical products and complete maintenance programs that really work. Surtec has also developed and patented truly green maintenance equipment with vacuum systems that drastically improve indoor air quality along with saving labor dollars. All of these systems are supported by "hands-on" factory-trained Surtec Technical Representatives. This is the foundation of "Surtec Certified Green Systems."
This year Surtec proudly celebrates 40 years of providing quality products and systems to the maintenance industry. In the spirit of giving back to the community, Surtec President Bill Fields founded the non-profit, Surtec Adopt-A Family Program Inc. in 1991. The mission is to provide a happier Christmas to children of needy families in the Bay Area, Tri-Valley and Central Valley areas. The entire program consists of a group of volunteers who have animated Christmas for children of needy families by providing extra large food boxes and personally wrapped gifts for each child. Volunteers deliver all of the food and gifts on the Saturday before Christmas. One of the main requirements of this program is that there are no administrative costs taken from the project. All of the help is on a volunteer basis and all funds and goods go directly to the needy families. To date 6,191 families with 17,615 children have been recipients of the program. This year the number of families benefitting from the program will increase to 400.
